Rhonda successfully completed the extraordinarily
difficult and demanding walk along the Great Wall of China on the
Great Walk
to Beijing, 7 April 2008 to 29 April 2008, with Olivia
Newton-John and many other well known personalities, to raise funds for
the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Centre at Austin Health in Melbourne.

In
2000, local Ivanhoe/Rosanna Fashion agent Rhonda, was diagnosed with
breast cancer. Today, after surgery and chemotherapy, Rhonda is one of
many Victorian cancer survivors. Rhonda's diagnosis and subsequent successful battle with breast cancer
inspired Rhonda to create the Leather and Lace Gala
fundraiser for a “Wellness Centre” at the Olivia Newton-John
Cancer Centre which will be built by 2010 at the Austin
Hospital.
The inaugural
Gala Dinner in 2004 raised over $62,000. Our 2005 Gala Dinner raised even more,
a wonderful $67,650. Moving
to a biennial program, our 2007 Gala Dinner and preceding raffle to win a Harley Davidson motorcycle, donated by Harley City
who have been Rhonda's partners in Leather and Lace from the beginning,
raised an incredible $86,265.

Soon after she commenced the road to
recovery, Rhonda became
the owner of a Harley Davidson motorcycle. Harley Davidson owners are well known
for their support and dedication to many charitable events.
Harley-City and the Brunswick Harley Owners Group, of which Rhonda is a member,
have thrown their collective weight behind this
biennial fundraising event
and have held a spectacular Bike Show on
each occasion at the Ivanhoe Town Hall.
The Ivanhoe Traders have also become
fully involved in this local community project and the annual Ivanhoe Fiesta
was held on the same day as the Gala Dinner
in 2004 and 2005.

Leather and Lace Gala is not a registered
charity. It is a private fundraising event held by a group of volunteers who have
been touched by cancer. Tax deductible monetary donations in support of the
Leather and Lace Gala can be made direct to
